Finding a common language

Despite the best efforts of researchers and policy makers, differences between our languages have in the past inhibited the practitioner dialogue with other European nations over the development of services and approaches comparable to the PIE developments in the UK.  Yet we believe that the UK is not alone in developing new approaches in homelessness, and in using creativity in engagement.

Some kind of extended dialogue on PIEs may now be beginning.  We will have here a few attempts to open the discussion on homelessness and mental health needs across the channel.

2016 saw the first presentation on PIEs in France, and in French, on 17th October, 2016, in Paris.  In 'L’ environnement informé : cinq ou six principes de base' Robin Johnson outlines - in French - the basic principles of the PIE framework, and its roots in social psychiatry and social inclusion policy.

NB: This talk was given as part of the conference "Quelle hospitalité pour les personnes en rupture de liens?" as organised by Claude Chevrier. There are also presentations on the Housing First pilot programme; and the work of the Rosa Luxembourg Centre. The recordings of these presentations are in process.

This event was followed by a handful of visits, some of which are recorded and available, including "The democracy of pidgin", the monthly essay for November; and "Une conversation avec Anne-Paul Lerosier", in the podcasts library.

See also "A PIE in Paris?/Une PIE à Paris?", two versions in video of an interview conducted earlier with Claude Chevrier himself; and several other papers by Claude in the Library.
