PIElink future partner(s) criteria: essential
The two essential criteria for any new partner thinking to take on the PIElink, and with it the lead role in the development of the PIEs approach, are:
- A facilitative, supportive approach: a commitment to action learning, staff support, and a ‘bottom up’ approach to service development, locally and nationally, facilitated by a central organisation to manage the current range of activities and to expand.
- Breadth of focus: Readiness to work with complex needs and social exclusion issues across the board ie: without a focus solely on any one sector where these issues are seen and managed.
PIElink future partner(s) qualities: desirable
The most desirable skills and current activities we seek, in any new partner thinking to take on the PIElink (and with it the lead role in the development of the PIEs approach) are:

- Flexibility: the ability to seize new opportunities and develop new responses; willing to incubate for a period, with the possibility of the PIEs work hiving off at some point in the future as a stand-alone project.
- PIE awareness: a good understanding of the PIEs approach and the value of the PIElink as a resource and community of practice to maintain coherence, flexibility and momentum
- Knowledge: an understanding of the design principles and operation of the PIE Abacus software package and the income potential
